That’s what getting personalized health care that puts you in control of your health can feel like.
There are a variety of reasons the current system isn’t serving women well:
The advances of precision medicine, the maturity of AI-analysis, and the prevalence of individual lifestyle data tracking are making a revolutionary, hyper-personalized approach to women’s health care possible.
By building our product through a seamless integration of your clinical data and ongoing, AI-powered analysis, we’re able to bring the transformative power of personalized health care to more women.
Our aspirations don’t stop there. We’re committed to making the health patterns, insights, and approaches we uncover through our work serving women, freely accessible worldwide as the go-to resource of women’s health information.
Meagan Pi is a proven technology leader with over 20 years of experience, most recently as a VP of Engineering at Google. Before co-founding Upturn, Meagan led Privacy Governance at Google — a multidisciplinary function that spans across policies, engineering and product development guidelines, to support one of the most important company-wide priorities to keep our users safe at scale. Previously, she also led engineering teams for Google Assistant, Search, and the Web Ecosystem.
Meagan became passionate about women’s health using herself as patient zero. Over the last two years Meagan has deeply researched different techniques and studies, has undergone many rounds of tests and has talked with the leaders in the field (where she met Dr. Sara). Meagan is passionate about bringing what she has found to other women.
Meagan also deeply cares about promoting equity for the Asian community and women in Tech. Meagan is a mother of a teenage boy and a 9-year-old daughter and loves dancing, cooking and jogging.
Bill Davidson brings more than 20 years of engineering, operations, and partnership experience to Upturn — including more than a decade at Google where he led international teams, launched products, and scaled operations. He’s passionate about using his expertise to address the critical gaps in women’s health care by making Upturn’s hyper-personalized, insightful, useful product available to more women. And he’s come out of early retirement to join the team. Bill has a BA in Chemistry, BS in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Pam and two cats, Pi and Taco. The four of them enjoy exploring the balance between work and play.
Elysa Fenebock is excited to shape the Upturn product experience with her deep expertise in the science and behavior of play and her passion for elevating the voices of patients and helping women navigate the complex health system while making meaningful lifestyle changes. With more than 10 years experience as designer, educator, and artist, her work has touched nearly every industry: consumer products, health tech, food design, experience design, education and more. Elysa thrives at working in emergent spaces and with ambiguous challenges: she was Google’s first designer-in-residence, and she developed the Design Thinking for Educators platform while at IDEO, and she created the inaugural course on psychedelic medicine by design, as an educator at the Stanford d.School.
Elyssa is also a recipient of the Edmund Hillary Global Impact Fellowship, and a frequent speaker and panelist, most recently at South by Southwest 2024, and Finding Purpose Across the Lifespan: UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center 2023.
